Question About Couriers and Goods Feedback

  • Rolebama's Avatar
This morning I was yet again bombarded with emails asking me for feedback on goods received, and the couriers. On each purchase, the goods arrived, and were exactly as I had ordered. The courier delivered them OK. What am I supposed to say? I don't get this when I buy in a shop, what is it with these people?

I suspect that their contracts are reliant/supported by positive customer feedback. They'll know that the more feedback they get, the higher the aggregate score is likely to be.

I also wonder if the scores we give tell us something about ourselves?

For example; if they've done everything that they promised, is that great service (10/10) or meeting my expectations (6/10)?

The problem with such feedback is human nature.
If the package arrives on time and is exactly as ordered as far as many are concerned that's what they paid for, so no need for comment or feedback. If the package is late, damaged or nor as ordered many will readily give negative feedback, making the whole survey worthless.
I've had sellers ask for feedback even before the package has arrived.

I've had that too many times. Really annoying.
Another thing I find annoying is reading some reviews which degrade a product because of a problem with the courier!?

It's a bit like giving tips. If you go to a restaurant, get shown to a table, someone takes your order and the food arrives, should you give a tip?

My philosophy is that I don't tip people who just do the job they are being paid for. If they go out of their way to make the meal more enjoyable, or (as often happens with us - my wife being in a wheelchair) they have to rearrange the furniture, then I will show my appreciation.

It's kinda like how I handle feedback on stuff I buy. If it's just what I expected, no need to rave about it. But if someone really knocks it out of the park? You bet I'm gonna give great feedback.

It's worth pointing out that, the way feedback is analysed by the management etc, anything less than 9/10 is considered negative

It seems weird to me because nothing is 10/10, unless they delivered it free and gave me a chilled glass of champagne

Likewise nothing is 0/10 unless it killed me or something...

I'm inclined to give everything something in the range of 3 - 8 / 10 but apparently even the 8 would be interpreted b their statisticians as negative
