have a 7 year old Mk3 Focus RS with only 14,500 miles on the clock and in excellent condition . In the interest of time/expense My dealer advised me to download the latest Synch3 software update from the Ford UK website and follow the instructions therein.
I entered my VIN no and downloaded the attached zip file update accordingly. A dashboard message confirmed that the update from the flash drive was successful and it would take effect after the next engine start. On starting the engine the screen Synch 3 screen went black and the dealer has confirmed I need a new £800 APIM unit.
Ford UK have declined any financial support as they are hiding behind the fact that the vehicle is outside of warranty. Per the Ford Focus RS and other Ford forums this is a known update issue. It is clearly NEGLIGENCE on Ford UK’s part.
