With the upcoming UK election, I thought I'd take a look at what the major parties have promised motorists in their manifesto's.

Conservatives

• Reverse ULEZ in London
• More money to address potholes
• Restrictions on 20mph speed limits

Labour

• Reinstate the ban on petrol/diesel cars by 2030
• Increase charging points across the country
• Fix one million potholes per year

Lib Dems

• Increase charging points across the country
• Reduce VAT on charging costs (by 5%)
• Fix 1.2m potholes per year
• Reinstate the ban on petrol/diesel cars by 2030

It seems they are all making promises either that they can't or won't keep, either in improving driving conditions or reducing the cost. That's all well and good, but where is the money coming from, and as for the Tories banning ULEZ, do they seriously expext us to believe they are just going to give up an income of multi-millions of annual revenue and not rip us off in other ways? I have more belief in Santa and the Easter Bunny.

I believe that Churchill said something to the effect of "There's none so hard working as a politician seeking re-election"
And his classic " A politician needs the ability to foretell what is going to happen tomorrow, next week, next month, and next year. And to have the ability afterwards to explain why it didn't happen"
And it may come as a bit of a shock, but politicians are known to lie.

I do think that the pubic encourage them to lie, in fairness

If a politician came along and promised to just bumble along as normal and nothing will really change for better or worse, no one would vote for them, except that's exactly what people end up voting for anyway 🤔
