Variable speed signs and fines on the M6
-
When a motorway speed sign is reduced from national speed limit for example to 60,50 or 40 and then on the next set of signs they are blank and the next set of signage after that is blank how do you know if the cameras are broken and you have to continue at the reduced speed or are they now National speed limit

Best Answer@Dondon1A blank sign is meaningless, so legally the indicated limit still applies.
Has this happened to you, or is this a hypothetical question? -
Yes got a speeding ticket m6 same scenario again last night which I had to reduce to 40 from national speed limit then blank gantry for around 10m it was very dangerous as trucks where swerving around me doing 41mph as I don’t want another fine had to change my kecks when I got home

I agree but I was the only car over a long stretch of motorway before the national speed limit was shown approx 10 minutes which for me is ridiculous and very dangerous I honestly nearly got hit twice by trucks who where travelling around 60 mph as everything today it’s about profiting and exploiting but this motorway stretch is seriously dangerous and needs addressing

You can’t really have a discussion on this forum because somebody has to approve your question and every response that seems pointless really a bit like the way the uk government police everything you do I’m a 48 year old if I don’t know how to conduct myself now there’s no hope for me what really is going on

Hi Dondon1,

FWIW: J6 on the M1 Southbound had a 30mph speed limit round Brickett Wood, and no NSL signage entering the slip road. So effectively the speed limit was 30mph right down to J1. A ridiculous situation that went on for years.

If so, an NSL sign is not needed. The End of Roadworks sign means "End of road works and any temporary restrictions including speed limits".
