Moja car insurance - Validation

So my father took out insurance with Moja car insurance recently to surprise me but my sister found a better price so we’ve been trying to cancel this policy even though it starts on 28th of june, cancelling online doesn’t seem to work and i keep getting an error saying we can’t cancel, as moja is a new company they don’t even have a phone line in the help section and only email, i thought id let a day go by and see if i can cancel the next day but was met with the same issue, then ive received an email that morning to say they are doing validation checks and want License pictures, check codes, utility bill, bank statement for payment, vehicle v5c and proof of occupation i can’t even provide most of these and i’ve only got a 7 day deadline but i don’t need this policy anymore, i’ve told them i’ve tried cancelling before and it wasn’t working but they are saying because it’s in validation stage they cannot cancel it, i’ve tried writing to them numerous times and no luck, now here’s where it all goes left… they said the only way they would be able to cancel is by them and it would leave a mark on my name permanently that i’d need to declare to every insurer in the future, bit harsh ?

Hmm, this doesn't sound right.
A few years ago, an older relative stopped driving. I forgot to cancel their insurance and it auto-renewed and the money left my bank.
It was a bit of a faff, but i was able to cancel online within a day or so and I had a full refund within a week.
I was dealing with a different insurance company, but still, you should be able to cancel.
I recommend that you email them where possible so there is a date stamp with your intention to cancel.
