Considering an EV in future but “fun” is my main criteria when choosing a car

“Fun” does not have to be synonymous with “speed”

But an unlikely candidate came up… Smart make a four wheel drive car with 420bhp that does 0-60 in 3.9 seconds which to me is still supercar speeds

It’s £45,000 as well which is not supercar money … more like a reasonably nice saloon these days

Has anyone ever properly put an EV through its paces with regards to handling? I’ve only had a few hours with a Mini and didn’t really get a chance to drive it enthusiastically on country lanes

I've not driven an EV but I imagine with all the battery weight being so close to the ground it will go round corners like it's on rails😉

@Drivingforfun The really low centre of gravity really does make for an extremely stable platform for a car. My Mini Electric is incredibly fun to drive with its go-kart handling and light steering.

My Nissan Leaf was also nimble and easy to drive, even though that was much bigger.

I've driven an electric car, and its low center of gravity makes handling amazing. like it's on rails.

I still own a petrol ICE car, I've driven a few hybrid's, but haven't driven a full EV.

I do like the idea of an EV and these real world recommendations do keep nudging me in that direction when I start shopping for a new car.

Me too, they are still too expensive though.
