Idiot Spotting for Beginners
-
I have just got home from dropping my car off for some work. Two bus rides away. Waiting at the first stop, I was attracted to a woman shouting at her mobile. She decided to cross the road paying absolutely no attention to traffic whatsoever. The first bus arrived and as I was queueing to get on, saw another woman run across the road to catch it, again paying no attention to traffic. Waiting for second bus on busy high street, saw numerous incidents of people opening car doors in the way of traffic and numerous delivery drivers just stepping out into traffic carrying various boxes etc. I don't know how many drivers hit the brakes to avoid these clowns, but it was a great reminder as to why I no longer drive in the rush hours.

I can sort of understand today's mindset of letting someone else take responsibility for ones own problems...but when it involves your own personal safety why would you want to trust someone else??

Experienced drivers develop a sixth sense about these situations. It was impressed on me at the learner stage that buses at stops are a potential hazard for several reasons, both pedestrian and traffic-related.
Other things like when a car stops at the kerb, it's possible that the driver will open the door. People, especially those pushing babies in pushchairs, will walk onto pedestrian crossings assuming that the traffic will stop for them. Small children on bicycles or with balls are liable to dart or fall into the road....
No doubt contributors to this forum could list many other potential hazards that we see but don't have to think about. -
But we have a much higher standard of idiots here.
We have a crime problem, well not so much a problem with the crime more with the idiots in the courts, for example;

But my favourite is this idiot who tried to convince the police that he was fixing the ATM🤣

@NMNeil If you are posting links to American idiots, I like this story:

Not so much a hazard but I can quite consistently know which way people on roundabouts will be going, regardless of whether their indication is incorrect (or even present)
Not really sure how but like you say it's sort of a sixth sense based on a combination of factors
Others I've spoken to say the same thing as well -
@Santa Took a local <removed> to the County jail and at the intake desk they ask a series of questions before they get booked in.
"Are you pregnant" being one of them, and as the <removed> was male you wonder why they ask, but I suppose rules is rules, but when they got to the "Do you take controlled substances?" and he said "No, never"
I then asked him why I was arresting him to which he replied "Possession of meth"
Our gene pool needs a damn good dose of chlorine.Last edited by Mark07; 30-05-24 at 06:57. Reason: masked swearing
