Mating season for the skunks is quickly followed by the pregnant female looking for a safe place to have her kits. And they are very protective so if she nests under your house you won't have long before there are lots of baby skunks running in your yard.
We have diamondback rattlesnakes on our property but I've never ever seen one, and the only reason I know they are there is their molt skins will be everywhere.
Scorpions are literally a pain and I pick up a few stings every year, but contrary to the movies the sting leaves a red mark and itches for about an hour and that's it.
The worse sting/bite I ever got was when a brown recluse spider fell down the back of my shirt and literally nearly killed me.
