Am I just becoming a grumpy old man, or would others prefer to keep a window. Seems like a gimmick to me.

Wouldn't worry me as I have driven a number of vans with no rear windows. My only negative thought would be how vulnerable are the rear view cameras to damage or vandalism. I have never felt comfortable with cameras replacing mirrors, partly because the worst I have seen of mirrors is them being knocked out of alignment.

The point about rear windows getting smaller is very valid.

FWIW all the buses around here have cameras instead of mirrors, and they seem to work very well.

Built in obsolescence is alive and well.

I think there is a difference between obsolescence and in-built premature failure. All of my own entertinment stuff is considered obsolete partly because it has been superceded by newer models, but it still works.

Random question after reading another thread.

Where about is the screen? Can the passenger see it?

Could someone take their driving test in such a vehicle, seeing as the examiner needs to be able to see out as well.

Your laws are much the same as ours, that the only information that can be seen by the driver is related to operating the car, GPS, rear view etc.
