It was bound to happen.... Artificial intelligence is coming to our cars, meaning we'll be able to while away those long motorways by talking to ChatGPT!

Voice assistants on VWs are going to be 'augmented' by ChatGPT across a range of models.

I suppose it's not really that much different to saying, 'Hey Siri, navigate to Bristol' or whatever?

But with ChatGPT of course you get the AI element which means you can just keep having a conversation.

Which begs the question - what would you ask it and talk about?!

"Where's the cheapest petrol station?" Would probably be my first question. (£1.38 - £1.62 locally.)
Or maybe: "What's the traffic like on the M**?" Be interesting to see if it had any answers.
The Android I partially fitted was supplied with a microphone and supposedly is able to answer these questions, but only with a wifi in range. According to the Manual I can Bluetooth it to my phone and use the wifi there, but it seems too much of a palaver to set up for every journey. Although my 'new' phone is supposed to be easier to set up as it supposedly it will be a matter of setting up once and it should then connect automatically every time I use the car. Time will tell when I can be bothered to dismantle the dasboard again.

I think I agree with above, would probably just ask it for the cheapest petrol within a small radius.


I am a millennial, so, supposedly am addicted to my phone, and according to the RAC I have a 50% chance that I have made a video call while driving.


I had my last car for almost 4 years and never even set the radio presets let alone connecting my smart phone to the car.


New car has a sat nav which is admittedly very clever as it knows the traffic conditions and reroutes me based on traffic but that’s part of the car and nothing to do with my phone. I still haven’t been bothered to play around setting the phone up. Am more interested in driving the thing.

Never once looked at it while driving, a couple of times have pulled over when expecting an important call but that's it. I admit to glancing at my Apple Watch a handful of times when it buzzed my wrist but never pressed anything on it.

Actually I don't know what the legalities are r.e. smart watches - I assume looking at it is no different to checking the time on a normal watch, but interacting with it is a no-no?
