Stop fooling people!

It's a disgrace; we reported the vehicle 10 hours ago and were told that you would receive a message within 40 minutes; we are still waiting. I called three times and asked what happened, no one called or came, they told me on the phone there was no one in the area we were in, that's why they couldn't send anyone, you know how to make money but when it comes to providing service, there is no one around! What kind of service do you deliver to people? By deception? Isn't there a government agency that supervises you?

"No one in the area" reminded me of a story when I was living in Los Angeles.
Homeowner gets woken up by noises in the middle of the night. Looked out of his window and saw 2 guys breaking into his garage. Called the police only to be told they had no available units in the area and he should just make sure the doors to the house were locked and simply wait for them to leave.
He called back a few minutes later and told the dispatcher to forget the police but to send an ambulance instead as he's just shot both the burglars.
Within minutes there were 4 patrol cars at his house and the burglars got arrested.
The duty sergeant was pissed and began ranting at the homeowner because he'd lied about shooting the burglars. To which the homeowner replied "And you said you had no available units in the area, so that makes us both liars"

I wonder if that's a commonly made up story?

We had a similar one in the UK, guns aren't legal here, so any mention of them makes a case an immediate police "priority" ........

The common one here is.......Homeowner calls cops, no available units, homeowner says he's shot the burglars so 4 cars turn up to arrest the homeowner, burglars are free to go

Ha good story @NMNeil let's just hope we don't reach a stage when shooting burglars doesn't warrant an immediate response. 😬

I lived in LA for 2 years and I assure you stories like that are often true.
It's not known as the land of fruits and nuts for no good reason. 😁
