The split-level viaduct built to carry the M5 motorway through a Somerset hillside has reached its 50th anniversary.


The section, known as Wynhol Viaduct, linked the motorway network between Clevedon and Portishead and opened in 1973.

I never like driving along it. Especially on the lower part, always wondering if something - another car, basically - is going to land on top of me!

@Marc I first went over it in a lorry. The extra height made it even more spectacular.
