I was driving in a town at a legal speed (less than 30mph) and planned to turn right to enter a parking.
I turned on the indicator and reduced the speed. Before I turned the steering wheel I checked that there was no car coming across the road. Then when I started to turn the car right, a motorbike that tried to overtake my car hit my car driver's door.


I asked the driver to see my indicator but the driver said no he didn't see it.
Fortunately, the motorcyclist is not seriously injured, but he insists I am at fault and need to pay for his motorbike repairs.


Do you think who is more liable?

From your description, it seems that you didn't check your mirror - or if you did, not carefully enough.

Mirror, signal, manoeuvre - in that order, is what your driving instructor should have taught you and it should be instinctive.

I hope his instructor actually taught him: "MirrorS, signal, manoeuvre".

That's what it says in the Highway Code, which he should have studied for his theory test.

Yes, you are correct. In my defence, when I was a learner, I only had one mirror to check.
