So, at what point will the Govt start demonizing EVs? Doesn't seem that long ago they were pushing us to buy diesels.

Scary stuff. I think it will settle down as said in the article, but bad news for those people who switched to save money.
Someone suggested hydrogen at the end, but that has its own risks - more than petrol and a lot more than diesel.
I have every intention of hanging on to my petrol car as long as I can. -
As far as I can make ouy, it is making hydrogen cars idiot-proof when filling up. I have always seen people smoking when filling with petrol. According to articles I've read, whoever comes up with an infallible system for refilling hydrogen could become an overnight millionaire.
As an aside to this, I had a friend who owned an Austin Princess with an LPG conversion. He used to take the car to an LPG specialist to have the bottle changed. On one occasion he was told to: "Don't ask questions, just run!" Turned out a guy was changing his own bottle on the road outside and managed to empty the bottle into the atmosphere, all while leaning in the boot with a lit cigarette in his mouth.
They are out there - and they are allowed to breed. -
Hydrogen is not yet a solution. It's expensive to make, difficult to ship and not very efficient.
I watched a video yesterday which painted a pretty alarming picture of Chinese EVs catching fire. The main problem seems to be that the fires are almost impossible to extinguish. The video was far from a balanced assessment though - petrol cars have been known to burst into flames, and it seems that the Luton Airport fire originated in a diesel.

No idea if this is accurate but a friend seemed quite convinced...The Luton Airport fire was caused by a diesel hybrid, they are just not publicising the "hybrid" part and are focusing on the "diesel" part, for political reasons. Friend watched a video and seemed convinced the fire started in the batteries rather than anywhere near the fuel tank or diesel drive train.
Not saying it's accurate, and I don't have the time or interest to pursue looking into more info, but just thought it was worth throwing out there in case anyone else cared to look into it!
