Coverage for damages to a rental car

I am writing to inquire about the coverage for damages to a rental car under a no-fault claim.
A few months ago, I was involved in a car accident that was the fault of a Geico policyholder. I was given a rental car while my own vehicle was being repaired. The day before my car was finished, a rock hit the windshield of the rental and caused a small ding. The rental company is now trying to collect $650 from me for damages.
I am wondering if this damage is covered by the responsible party's insurance company, since I was driving the rental under a no-fault claim.
I understand that no-fault insurance is designed to cover medical expenses and other losses, regardless of who is at fault for an accident. However, I am not sure if it also covers damage to rental cars.
I would appreciate it if you could provide me with some clarification on this matter.
Thank you for your time and consideration.

I think that you need to study the rental agreement you signed when collecting the car. Often, when renting a car, things such as the roof, the windscreen, the tyres and the undercarriage are not covered unless you pay extra.

I suggest that you contact your own insurance company and ask them.
