Earlier this week it was decided that I should start painting some of our garden furniture. Tuesday and Wednesday I managed to get everything first-coated, and some things second-coated. Then it rained Wednesday night so nothing done yesterday because of intermittent drizzle. Now I have the fun job of sanding down everything that needs a second coat because it says to do this on the tin. Job I should have finished on Thursday is now running into tomorrow. Sometimes I just hate our climate.
What Gave Me 'The Hump' Today

To balance out the 'What made me happy today' thread.

I've got the hump that I've been housebound for well over a week with the outside temperature around 40c every single day with no end in sight.
-
Not so much the hump as a mild disappointment.
My JCW is delayed, probably for a month or 2. So looking at Oct-Nov delivery.
At least I'm not slumming it in the Cooper S. First world problems! -
Argh, gutted for you @Drivingforfun
But as you say, the Cooper S is still a fantastic car for the time being!
And it means you've got something to look forward to?! -
Today it is snarky comments on forums.
Not sure what people get out of it?
I appreciate answers to questions but not sure why the negative tone ... do people think as they are helping me with one hand they have the right to take a pop with the other?
Pistonheads is the worst for it!!! -
went for a meal yesterday. Saw a bottle of Tallisker's on display. Never had it but heard about it on Cabin Pressure a while back. So I ordered a double, only to be told it was a 'display' bottle, and was full of cold tea or some such.
-
Cabin Pressure is a great show! Or was, last I heard it, which was about 10 years ago or something. Used to have me in stitches.
I hope they gave you a discount for the lack of Tallisker đ¤ -
Went to visit my daughters yesterday. Decided to drive up through the lanes for a change. So, what is going on in Herts? On at least three occasions we came across road signs 'Road Closed Ahead' when there was nothing going on! Two of these areas on the A602 up the side of Hitchin. Yet no sign of any problem in Wheathamstead until you get to near the end of the High Street, where there is unsigned roadworks on the roundabout with ridiculously phased temporary traffic lights.

I have Covid. đ Sorry for not posting for a few days, been really rough, better today but still "positive" on the test.
-
It def seems to be doing the rounds again, quite a few people I know have got it or just had it.
Hope it passes soon and you'll be back in your lovely new Mini! -
What's given me the hump today is I've just got back from the dentist. It was painful. Not as painful as how much it cost me, however..... đĩ

Went to my local Walmart and as you drive into the parking lot you have a row of panhandlers (beggars) all with signs telling the world how poor they are and even offering to work for food đ¤Ŗ. Nothing unusual but we saw one of them take a break and get into his motorhome that was just like this one.
Poor my arse.

Almost hit a dog today as it ran across a dual carriageway while I was doing 70mph.
It was near a traveler's site so I am guessing it came from there as it had no collar on. âšī¸ -
Aw, this is rather sad @Drivingforfun but at least you didn't hit it. Still, it's not nice knowing that the poor thing is putting itself in these dangerous situations. I hope the dog stays lucky! -
My wife just finished clearing the 'clut' from the back of our food storage area. She showed me the variety of pickles she is going to throw out because it is past the sell by date. How can pickles be out of date after three months? When I was a kid we would make pickles the leave them to 'mature'. Most annoying is the amount of 'preservatives' in the, like vinegar and mustard aren't enugh.
-
On a similar note I always wondered how bottled mineral water can have a sell by date of approx. 12 months having been under the surface of the earth for maybe thousands of years?
-
The wife wanted to watch a 'chick flik' on the TV.
Gets herself all settled in with a glass of wine waiting for the movie to start.
About a minute before the start of the movie she gets up and leaves the room, no idea why.
When she get back her first words were "What did I miss"
I tell her, "about the first 10 minutes"
Her, "But what happened?"
Me "No idea I was reading my book"
So she's the one who got the hump. đ -
I received two emails today asking me to review services which I have yet to receive. One from my 'new' car insurer asking me to review them even though it doesn't start until 25 Feb, and the other from my 'new' fibre broadband provider which should start on 8 Feb. What is wrong with these people? Surely you can't be expected to review anything until you have had at least half a chance to use it?
-
So I decided to go for fibre broadband. After all the palaver it went live on 14 Feb. All fine so far, except I discovered I am still connected to the company I left. In fact, my wife is sitting next to me still connected to the 'old' company. Yesterday I phoned them and was told it could still take up to another 5 days before they disconnect. Well, they sent me four letters asking me to stay, and also told me that they knew the new company was going live on 14 Feb. How incompetent and inefficient do they have to be to sell comms systems?
-
An addition to the above. My fibre broadband went live on 14 Feb, but we were still on the old company landline service until it finally stopped on 29 Feb. Currently we have no landline because they put a stop on it. This means the new company will have to initialize a new number. To add insult to injury, my new supplier assumed it was me who had cancelled, so no landline since 29 Feb. Spoke to them just now, and they tell me it could be another five working days before we get a landline.
On the bright side, the new company have cancelled my entire bill, including the fibre 'til the end of March. -
After being without a phone line for a month, it finally worked today. Unfortunately, I lost internet for part of last week and the Easter weekend. Here's hoping they are both now here to stay.
On a positive note I have been advised that compensation is currently being worked out. -
Went to Dorset yesterday and came home in the early hours of this morning along the A303. To me, that journey was the Highway to Hell personified. Just about every bend had someone coming the other way on full beam, just in time to dazzle so I did not see the potholes looming, and there are more than enough to go around! Won't be doing that again.

I went to vote today. Handed over my Voting Card ad Driving Licence. He called out a number to the lady handing out the Ballot Papers, three today because of Mayoral and London Assembly votes. I found numbers on the back of all three papers, and I asked if they were used to identify me. This was affirmed. So the anonymous 'free' vote is yet another sham scam.
