Hello.

I am currently looking into purchasing a car, however I haven't passed my full test yet so I am still on my provisional.

When looking to insure a vehicle RAC was an option, but I am wondering is there any hidden fees etc or things I need to do once I past my test to move from Learner Driver insurance to just normal driver insurance?

No "hidden" fees AFIK. But the premium certainly leaps up once you get out on your own. It's pretty obvious really: Learners, by law, have a responsible driver sitting beside them. Newly qualified drivers are probably the highest risks on the road, due to their youth (usually) and their inexperience.

Santa - what you say makes perfect sense & I agree... based on that I'd be interested to know whether insurance does or doesn't leap up for a newly qualified motorcyclist, as learner motorcyclists can go out on their own anyway. Maybe it even comes down (ha) to reflect the motorcyclist's qualification?.
