Since Friday, on my computer, I have had a pop-up appear whenever I try to log on to the RAC site, saying the site is down.

I assumed there was maintenance so left it over the weekend but it’s still happening. Thought they must be losing a lot of business for it to be down this long and just checked on my iPad and the site is working fine!

Any ideas as to what’s wrong? :) I am guessing something to do with my computer as it works fine on other devices…

Hi Marc, I have managed to sort it by deleting all my cookies and web history with this site and starting fresh.

I did take a screenshot before but am having problems uploading it. The "insert image" button lets me choose a photo but then when I click "upload", it just disappears and my image hasn't been uploaded. 😕

If you're on desktop then use the attachment tool rather than pic tool.
It's the paperclip icon!

That button doesn't do anything when I click it - I'm on a Mac if that makes a difference!

Sorry - I forgot to say, click on 'Additional Options' first. Then choose 'manage attachments' if you can see that

Hmm very strange, when I try that, I get the same message as is in the image I am trying to upload.

It's basically just a nice picture of a RAC van with tools flying out of it plus this text...

Ah, yes that's the same issue @DDickie has spotted the other day.
It's being checked out by the tech team.
Sorry about that. It seems to be a bug preventing anyone from adding photos (and, now we know, attachments too) 😥

I've had an update from tech team re the RAC website login @Drivingforfun - no general issues reported over the weekend. No reports of login issue leading to a site down pop-up.
Is it still happening to you? On the one specific computer?

(The bug affecting photo uploads in the community is a separate issue of course!)

Hi Marc, no it's not happened since I reset my cookies and history. I wonder if it was one little corrupted file or something? (that probably makes no sense - I don't know much about computers!)

When I click on an Unanswered Question post, I get an Invalid Thread Specified message. Is it my setup or a glitch on the website? Thanks.

Rolebama, I believe that that is because the threads are by new members and have not been approved by the moderators, so aren't actually on the forum yet. For some reason they appear in the unanswered questions box though.

Ah, great spot @Rolebama and yes @Drivingforfun is correct! These are new threads from unknown users so fall into pre-moderation. The 'unanswered questions' box shouldn't be displaying these until they're approved.
Another bug! I've flagged this as an issue for the techs to sort.

Small update. Our tech team has confirmed this is indeed a bug. They're planning to do the work to fix it this month, with aim of testing the fix before the end of the month, and release the fixed live version at the start of May.
Kudos to you guys for spotting it! I missed it completely

Just wanted to let you know that our lovely tech team believe this bug has now been fixed! You should no longer see any unapproved posts in the 'unanswered questions' anymore. 👍
I'm going to keep my eye on it for a few days to make sure!
