@Marc even though the car is not mine and it's technically not my problem I do like to run in a new car, I did with my previous one, so I am actually hoping to get the first 1,000 or so miles out of the way swiftly!

We do have a trip to Derbyshire lined up to go to some Christmas markets in November so that may be the first "proper" drive. 😁

Also something else that made me happy today. It seems they are like busses, wait for ages then 2 come at once... relative has been discharged from hospital! Off to pick them up now!

Not me @Marc, my Mum!! I will be exactly half that age in November!!

She had a great day although is not pleased that today is the day she is officially a pensioner, being in receipt of her NHS pension one day after her 60th birthday!

Sainsbury's were selling packs of whisky miniatures on the cheap. I picked up a 3 pack of Glenfiddich (12yo, 15yo & 18yo) for £10. I don't drink enough these days to justify a full bottle to was pleased with this. 😋

At least my Dad beat her, as he was a pensioner at 49, having joined the police very young at 19 and only allowed to do 30 years.

Just signed up for the RAC app as was asked to by my lease company

The fuel watch thing is really good, saved me 5p a litre today and only had to drive under a mile out of my way so was well worth doing (am not one of those who is under the illusion it's worth driving 5-10 miles to save on fuel)

Also it can apparently pinpoint my location if I break down so no need to know where I am

For signing up I am in with a chance of winning a £100 Amazon voucher.. 🤞 (not sure whether that's a RAC or my lease company scheme)

Indeed!! I am usually quite good at buying the cheapest fuel, and not driving out of my way to do so. I am good at remembering numbers, so I remember the price of all of the filling stations I drive past on my usual routes. When I pass one that I know is well under average price I will fill up. This filling station however I didn't even know existed and it was worth the short detour...

Can also see it being especially useful when travelling and not familiar with the prices in that area...

Last night I was able to see five stars with the naked eye from my back garden. Not a great achievement I know, but with the advent of those sodium street lights and the rest of the light pollution here, I haven't seen any stars here for forty years. (I sold all of my astronomical gear in the 80s, because it was more practical than moving.)

Hey @Rolebama that sounds pretty cool! What kind of gear was it? I assume a telescope!

I had a couple of telescopes, a selection of eyepieces, various camera attachments and a projector arrangement. (We had a white-painted wall that I could project onto, and my kids loved seeing the moon about eight feet in diameter.)

Dad had a minor op last week. Today bandages came off, and all is successful!
A small matter, not at all serious, but still happy news and a relief for him. 🙂

As someone who is frankly rubbish at all things DIY, I'm happy that today I was able to source and fix a small but noticeable rattling in my car. The source was some loose wires in the passenger side wing mirror. Prised it open, and a few turns of a screwdriver.... no more noise!

I would like to dedicate this occasion to YouTube 🤣
