Hey everyone

I thought we could start a fun topic about TV shows and films we're watching or have just seen. It can include ones you'd recommend, as well as any you're wished you'd avoided.

It doesn't have to be a film seen at the cinema, or indeed a new TV series! Re-runs on iPlayer and other streaming services, as well as regular TV, are all welcome here 😊

To kick things off, I'll start. Last night I saw 'The Banshees of Inisherin'. Very dark humour, beautifully shot on an island off the coast of Ireland.

Quite a head-scratcher to be honest! It was about friendship and loneliness. That makes it sound grim but honestly it was really good. 😂

From the director behind 'In Bruges' and 'Three Billboards Outside Ebbing' which are both big favs of mine.

Two episodes on Paramount+, Tulsa King. Sly Stallone playing Sly Stallone. Entertaining.
What We Do In The Shadows. Film on BBC iPlayer, series on Disnet+. A fly-on-the-wall documentary abou a group of vampires living in(on?) Staten Island,NY. Crude, funny, not at all what you'd expect from Disney. Bit of a 'Marmite'.

The film is very funny indeed! Pretty clever idea too.
I've seen a few episodes of series too. I like Colin who kills people via boredom! 😂

A couple of more recent recommendations from me:

Everything Everywhere All at Once - a funny, very visual, sweet and extremely mind-bending film all about parallel universes, space and time. Don't let that put you off! Fantastic film, very cheeky in parts. It's been nominated for a few Oscars I believe.

The Forgiven - dark humour starring Ralph Fiennes and Jessica Chastain. Wikipedia explains it better than I ever could.

Both are great films to rent/stream 👍

I highly recommend the television series "Black Sails" for anyone who enjoys historical dramas with a touch of adventure and piracy. The show is set in the 18th century and follows the exploits of Captain Flint and his crew of pirates as they navigate the treacherous waters of the Caribbean, battling both the British navy and rival pirate crews while searching for treasure.

What makes "Black Sails" stand out is its complex characters, intricate plot, and impressive production values, including its authentic costumes and set design.

Moreover, the show features a diverse cast, which was unusual for a show set in this time period. If you're looking for a well-crafted, exciting, and diverse television series, "Black Sails" is definitely worth checking out.

I just watched the last ever episode of Endeavour, followed by a look at the production and interviews with the cast and production team.

What a great series Morse, Lewis and Endeavour have been.

One day I intend to watch the whole Morse/Lewis/Endeavour collection. Having never really caught them before.... Saving up for a winter in a few years or so!

The new David Attenborough series Wild Isles is really nice. It's on iPlayer of course. But I like to wait for a Sunday evening to watch it, as it feels very Sunday-ish!

My daughter just lent me Bullet Train, the Brad Pitt version. It had a very Quentin Tarantino feel to it, except far less blood. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Will definitely add Ken Leitch as one to look out for.

Interesting, it had quite mixed reviews. I'll check it out when the rental price drops on Google TV or Apple TV.

Saw the first episode of the new 'Great Expectations' on BBC yesterday. This one's by the bloke who created Peaky Blinders, so it's dark and quite violent as expected!

I am currently watching Star Wars: The Force awakens. I am a great fan of star wars series. In fact, it is one of the greatest sci fi. series ever produced with great storyline and commendable cast. have collected many lightsabers of different characters. I would definitely recommend this movie to you all.

One show on TV we'll not be watching is Top Gear. BBC have just announced it's over for 'foreseeable future' after the crash with Andrew Flintoff.
Not a big surprise. There's always the repeats I suppose!
