Citroen c4 picasso can injector problems cause automatic gearbox problems

Was Driving my Citroen C4 Picasso automatic 2011 , when the gear box went bang and I lost all drive , but the engine kept running. Switching off and restarting , the car started to drive , then the same thing happened again. RAC said I had gear box problems and towed car to garage. Garage tells me it was all four injectors that had failed , causing the engine management to give wrong instructions to gear box. They now want £1500 to fit four new injectors. Is this possible or am I just being fed a line?

    Kindest Regards

If the the wrong instructions were given to the gearbox it certainly would cause problems but I would be surprised if this can happen.
I would have expected the engine to go into limp mode, and the gearbox to have worked normally.

Have you thought of contacting Citroen technical dept, and asking them?

I agree with Wagolynn. Cant see how injectors failing would have any connection with the gearbox tho.
The only signal or command electronically it could possibly give when in motion and only if automatic gearbox, is when the system determines what gear to shift into based on the amount of throttle applied by yourself, hence either standard gear change or kick down.
I dont see any connection at all with what you've been told, to me that's on the same sort of level of a garage telling you your car overheated because your suspensions worn! Have a specialist take a look
