Grinding noise and light steering

  • callum1312's Avatar
Hi, earlier I took a wrong turn and had to pull into a side road that was just gravel, I did a 3 point turn and returned to the main road, after merging into the main road I realised that my steering has gone extremely light although my tire pressure is of advised and the road conditions are perfectly dry, as im about a mile down the road my car make an awful loud grinding noise from the rear as if my exhaust were hanging off. I pulled up and checked over my whole car and there was no visible damage. Does anybody know what this could be?

    Thanks, Callum.

    For reference its a 2004 1.6 FSI Golf MK5.

    Gravel trapped in the breaks?
Check the car underneath, check brakes are clear (jack wheel up and turn wheel) check suspension for free play bent components.

Or ask a tyre depot to do the same.
