UK drivers say they are fearful of the dangers posed by other motorists, this year’s RAC Report on Motoring has found.

The menaces on Britain’s roads – ranging from tailgating and texting at the wheel to drink-driving and road rage – have never been greater than they are today, our research suggests. The equivalent of more than 14 million car owners (36%) say in our 2019 survey that their top motoring-related concern is some form of illegal, anti-social or dangerous behaviour on the part of other drivers – behaviour that has the potential to put the lives of all other road users at serious risk.

I like the idea of quizzing people anonymously on the laws they break, but wonder how honest they will have been. I wonder if there is a way of adjusting the results based on average honesty. I found it very interesting nonetheless.

Bit of a worry the amount of people that have driven whilst over the drink drive limit. Never sure if driving standards are getting worse or there are just more cars about so you notice it more.

I watch many others on the roads and never move off from a green traffic light without making sure some numpty hasn't kept on going through their red set. That is very common now. I want to shout at people who say " he's a fast driver but very safe" Translated means "he is always over the speed limit and dangerous" Another is "My car is dead nippy" Translated " I chop up others if they leave a gap and push in" It appears many pass their driving test and automatically think they are Lewis Hamilton and can drive too fast for the road. How do the people with radios on so loud that they cannot hear emergency vehicles. I have seen that first hand whilst transferring a sick child in an ambulance with police escort and Mr DoBo couldn't hear or see the blues and twos, on our vehicles. I have been driving 50 years now without any points, accidents or parking fines because I stick to the rules of the road and drive to suit the conditions. Yes, some people make mistakes and most are unintentional but some blatently abuse the privilege of having that driving licence.

There was a guy at my work who posted on the internal online noticeboard offering a carpool place, saying something like "I drive over the speed limit but efficiently, not dangerously, so I get to work on time."

A short while later, he wrote off a company car and was convicted of dangerous driving.
