Spam Post Moderation

    Afternoon All,

Over the past few weeks we have been working to implement a process for the moderation of spam posts on the forum. We realise that these posts are disruptive to the user experience on the forum and want to tackle this issue.

This week, we will be working to migrate all currently registered users to a “Members” usergroup which will not require post moderation and will not change any of the rights you currently have on the forum. This will allow us to use the “Registered Users” usergroup as a place where posts can be moderated. Once a new user registers, they will be placed in the “Registered Users” usergroup and will have to have their posts approved by a moderator before they are posted to the forum. Once a user has had 3 posts approved, they will be promoted to the “Members” usergroup.

We hope that this will tackle the majority of the spam activity as we appreciate that of recent this has become particularly disruptive. The changes we are making should not affect the functionality of the forum, however, we do apologise for any outages or inconvenience caused and welcome your feedback via the ‘Forum Suggestions’ area under ‘Other Discussion’.

    Many Thanks,
    RAC

    Afternoon All,

Pleased to say that this change has now been implemented successfully and all newly registered members will be required to have their first 3 posts approved by a moderator before being transferred to the "Members" usergroup where approval is not required. We will be monitoring the spam activity over the next few days but please let us know if you are experiencing any issues with forum functionality since this change has come into effect, you can do so in the 'Forum Suggestions' section under 'Other Discussion'

    Many Thanks,
    RAC
