Can you help? Anti-Pollution light (Peugeot 207)

    Hi everyone,

    Here is my issue with
    Peugeot 207
    Year 2010
    Diesel, 1560 cc
    66 000 miles

    Problem:
    Anti pollution warning lamp
For the last 6 months I have been frequently getting anti pollution warning on the dashboard.
It than does one of two things.
    1. Cut the engine. I have to stop. Leave it for 30 seconds and I can start the engine again. It drives without any problems. I have done more than 5 000 miles like this without any issues.
    2. Restricts the engine at 3000 rpm. I can continue driving without any issues just have to switch gears at 3000 rpm.
    My observations:
I have not noticed any additional noise from the engine. Have not noticed any increased fan speed/work. At times I have noticed a bit more smoke coming out of exhaust for the first 10 seconds or so after it is started again.
I also noticed that the likelihood of this warning appearing increases if I drive in lower revs and higher gears. If I keep reving it up in lower gears it is less likely to appear.
Also of note is that the car has passed MOT and emission tests in the mean time without any issues.
In my layman opinion there is nothing major wrong with the engine. It seams to be working fine and it seams to be only restricted by electronics.

Any advice would be very much appreciated. In terms of what you think this might be or how to go about fixing it in London.
Thank you very much for your time and advice.

Best bet is to take it to your nearest Bosch Service Centre who have the correct diagnostic equipment to plug into your car and get fault codes, live data and can perform functions to fix the fault.
The fault is almost certainly connected to the Diesel Particulate Filter especially if you drive in the city. To keep it clean, it needs to be driven at a minimum of 40 mph for a good 20 minutes so a blast on the motorway is a good idea.
You are slowly damaging your car by not having this fixed. If the DPF becomes totally blocked then it will cost to either replace it or have it removed and cleaned. The blocking up also blocks up other components such as the throttle flap and the EGR valve and associated pipework.
If the DPF is partially blocked the Bosch people can do a forced regeneration to clean it out while still on the car - takes up to 40 minutes - and then you are good to go. But you need to drive once a week above 40 mph for 20 minutes to keep it clear afterwards.

Thank you very much for your prompt and useful advice.
I've found a local bosch service centre and made initial inquiry.
    Will update on the results.

Mine was a simple fix that peugout couldn't find ..go figure .. I simply removed air filter sprayed carb cleaner into the air intake pipe in short bursts while engine is running spray in slow short bursts .. mine was dirty map sensor or stuck throttle boddy either way problem cleared no problems since

On a diesel??? Really??? How to knacker an engine in one easy step. Posting the same 'fix' for both petrol and diesel is wrong.
