Hi,

I renewed my license at 70. Can anyone tell me, now Ive held my photo card license for three years IE coming up to 73. Will i need go through the same procedure of counter signature on back of photo, and must counter signature person, fill in a section on form when i re-apply at 73.I have a up to date Passport. Please guide me on this Procedure.?

Because Ive been told, as long as i give my passport Number on Form, that i don't need to change license Photo, so no need for counter signatures or form filling by a counter signature person.

So on my 73rd, in a couple of months, I wont need to go through par- lava , of a Counter Signature Person filling in a Section of the application Form. certifying that they know me.? Also my photo License Card will be 3yrs old, so i wont need to have a new License Photo.?

So, my Passport Number, and the information section on my Health, is all i need to fill in on the Application Form at 73.?

Sorry to be so succinct, but when i did it at 70, it was a pain getting Photos that were suffice and a Signatory, etc etc

Thank you for your Input, My license photo will be 3yrs old on my 73rd, in a few months, so i will only have to fill the form in with my Passport Number-medical info, and no counter Signatory.?

Yes, with these things on line, you can always not complete the application (just log off) at any point until the very last entry/confirmation.

I renewed mine recently, and they happily accepted the photo from my passport, which was 9 years and 9 months old. I suspect that so long as you have a current passport you won't need a new photo.

No, my licence was due for renewal on my 70th birthday. It now has to be renewed every three years, but the process is exactly the same whether you're 73, 79 or 99. So long as you maintain a current passport you should never have to provide a photo.

Never mind last year - until a few weeks ago I'd have said I would be flying to Portugal for a week on Easter Monday. I've re-booked the flights for October, but who knows ....

Go to https://www.gov.uk/renew-driving-licence-at-70

• You can renew your license if you're within 90 days of your 70th birthday
• You're a GB resident
• You meet the minimum eye sight requirement
• You'll need to renew every 3 years

What you need to renew online;

• an email address
• addresses of where you’ve lived for the last 3 years
• your National Insurance number
• a valid UK passport number (if you want to change the licence photo)
