Advice wanted - Vehicle status checks

  • jakeh's Avatar
    Hello

I am looking at buying a used car and might have to get several checks.

There seems to be loads of companies offering vehicle status /HPi checks. Do they all use the same source, if so which ones, is all information about cars recorded on all data bases, do the cheaper checks give less information or less reliable? Seem to vary so much in price (£2.99 to £40+)

Bit confused... any advice much appreciated!

Read the small print with regards to what the engineer does, what 's covered, and from whom they get their data from. The RAC inspection is probably the best :D (i don't work for them, honest.) as they get their data from hpi which is pretty accurate as it's linked to the PNC (police national computer). Car Checkers is another company which I think uses Experian, a credit reference agency, for it's data. Don't quote me on that though, read their small print.
